Our Prayer Shawl Ministry is in need of help
Our Prayer Shawls are made by church members (and friends). Anyone who could use prayers or a hug may be given a prayer shawl. All of our shawls are machine washable and dryable. No one who is ill or recovering should have to worry about hand washing or allergies. If you know someone who could benefit from one of our shawls then contact the church office or Suzanne Ackley (703-980-3708 /ten.xoc@eusyelkcax).
Several of our crafters have moved away and we are running low on shawls. So how can you help with this ministry?
Do you knit or crochet? We can supply yarn or a pattern if you prefer to work alone on your own schedule. If you would like to learn to knit or crochet, we hope to get classes started again sometime during the coming year. We typically meet on Saturday mornings.
We can always use monetary support to replenish our supplies as they are used up. A check made payable to FUMC and earmarked for the Prayer Shawl ministry will help a lot. The average cost for a shawl is $20.00. We are no longer accepting donations of yarn, as we need to make sure the yarn is machine washable/dryable and hypoallergenic.
