Happenings with the Children’s Ministry

There has been a great deal happening with our Children’s Ministry here at Franconia UMC. Our children’s chimes choir is now at full capacity and I am looking to borrow the third octave of chimes from another church in order to have room for growth. We hope the children will be ready to participate in worship on May 22.

We had a very successful Easter Celebration with 54 participants (children and parents) and 16 volunteers. The kids dyed eggs, made a colorful cross and hunted and hid eggs as a team. Smiles were all around, especially when they received the bag of candy at the end of the egg hunt station.

Our Kingdom Kids has welcomed several new children and families. We now regularly have between 10 and 12 children for our Sunday time together. We are excited about more children joining us to learn about God and his love for them. We are currently finishing up our Dig In to the Heart of God curriculum by Group publishing and look forward to moving to Dig In to Foundations of Faith next. These lessons have the children experience the Bible story then use a game, craft, object lesson or talk-about video to expand on the lesson. Each week we have two quiz questions on the previous week’s lessons. The child who answers correctly gets to pick from our treasure box. It is amazing how much these children remember from week to week.

We have started registration for this year’s VBS. We will be doing Monumental by Group publishing. This theme is based in the southwest and helps the children learn about God’s love for them and his awesomeness. We are limiting registration to 60 children and will start a wait list for cancelations once our limit is reached. We are looking for volunteers to help this week. It will be July 11-15,2022 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

The Franconia Players, our children and youth musical group, look forward to sharing this year’s musical, “Called” at the May 22 worship service. There is a mission aspect to this musical and the children have decided to support UMCOR and their efforts with hunger relief and the Ukrainian

refugees. As part of the musical, we will be placing cans for change at the back of the sanctuary. If you would like to support the children and this mission, you can bring your change (or checks or cash) to the service to place in the cans. We thank you in advance for your support.

It is amazing to see how these children are growing in their knowledge of God and his love for them. If you would like to help with any of the programs we have for the children and help show them God’s love, please contact Linda Biscardo at gro.cmuainocnarf@yrtsinimsnerdlihc.
