Safe Sanctuary Training
Safe Sanctuary training opportunity will be February 4 from 12:15 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. in Cokesbury Hall and on Zoom. Keeping our children safe is of utmost importance to us at Franconia UMC. We have created a Child Protection Policy to help with this. One requirement of this policy is that volunteers who work with the children and youth of the church complete a Safe Sanctuary training. We will be offering this training on Sunday, February 4 in a hybrid…
Coffee and Conversation
Please join in the conversation this Sunday, January 28th to discuss the book of Ruth. The book of Ruth is a beautifully-crafted look at how God’s good purpose interplays with human decision. It’s a tale of love, loss, faithfulness, and redemption. Picking up “in the days when the judges ruled,” the book of Ruth tells the story of Naomi, the Moabite widow Ruth, and the farmer Boaz. Curiously, God is hardly mentioned in the book of Ruth. At a time…
Coffee and Conversation
This week for Coffee and Conversation we’ll look at the book of Judges. The book of Judges begins with the death of Joshua and, unfortunately, tells the story of Israel’s total failure. The book’s name comes from the types of leaders Israel had in this period. Before they had any kings, the tribes of Israel were ruled by judges. Don’t think of a courtroom here, because these were regional, political, and military leaders, more like tribal chieftains. Now, be warned,…

The next Conversations on Race and Faith will be this Sunday, January 14 at 1:00PM on Zoom – https://us02web.zoom.us/j/82211058510 This month we look at Christian Nationalism. Christianity Today magazine tells us “Christian nationalism is the belief that the American nation is defined by Christianity, and that the government should take active steps to keep it that way. Popularly, Christian nationalists assert that America is and must remain a “Christian nation”—not merely as an observation about American history, but as a…
Coffee and Conversation Returns This Sunday, January 14
Grab a steaming cup of coffee and a snack between services and join us for Coffee and Conversation in the Small Kitchen (lower level of the church in the Admin wing) from 10:15 – 10:45 a.m. this Sunday, January 14th. We will return to the Old Testament and continue our journey through the Bible with the book of Joshua. Joshua is appointed as Israel’s new leader, a new Moses. The book of Joshua shows us God’s faithfulness to his covenant…
New Worship Series – Bread, Bath & Beyond
So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new! — 2 Corinthians 5:17 The new year always brings opportunity to move beyond our limitations…to find new beginnings and be better than we were before. We use this cultural word-play in our series title to remember that the most basic transforming experiences of our faith — communion and baptism — are the starting points for life “beyond” our limitations.…
