Happenings with the Children’s Ministry

There has been a great deal happening with our Children’s Ministry here at Franconia UMC. Our children’s chimes choir is now at full capacity and I am looking to borrow the third octave of chimes from another church in order to have room for growth. We hope the children will be ready to participate in worship on May 22.  We had a very successful Easter Celebration with 54 participants (children and parents) and 16 volunteers. The kids dyed eggs, made…

Race and Faith – The Conversation Continues

The Race & Faith group was formed to educate and address the issues of race & faith in the church and community. If we are truly followers of Christ and brothers and sisters, we must be better at celebrating, accepting, and appreciating one another’s differences, along with our similarities. Understanding that we all have a different lens we see the world through based on the race we were born into and how the world has responded to us. We must…

Half Truths: God Helps Those Who Help Themselves and Other Things the Bible Doesn’t Say by Adam Hamilton They are simple phrases. “Everything Happens for a reason.”  “God won’t give you more than you can handle.” “Love the sinner, hate the sin.”  They sound Christian—like something you might find in the Bible. We’ve all heard these words. Maybe we’ve said them. They capture some element of truth, yet they miss the point in important ways. Join us Monday evenings as…

Cantata this Sunday

The number seven holds great significance in scripture. Creation took seven days; there are seven gifts of the Holy Spirit; the tabernacle was built in six days and dedicated on the seventh; and we often associate Christ’s passion with seven last words, or phrases. Sometimes overlooked is the fact that the scriptures describe, in great detail, the events of the seven last days of Jesus’ earthly existence. Each one of those seven days is of particular importance, though some were…

“Sound-Off!”

“Sound-Off!” We associate the phrase with military chants, and is often associated with boosting morale (at least in my, not military experience). And so, all young adults are invited to a zoom call where they can similarly gather to boost morale (especially as the end of the semester approaches).   The Sound-Off is a space for reflection, or just general “I’m really stressed and I need to let out my frustration or I’m going to pop” time. All are welcome…
